Production Lines

The production process at PT. Bukit Barisan Industry is based upon the art and philosophy of timber making brought by our founders. At PT. Bukit Barisan Industry, we have several production lines running independently within the same factory.

Logging Unit; We are situated in an area surrounded by high quality forests, wich provide supplies of logs. These are sawn into lengths, graded and segregated according to criteria of radius, length, quality, heartwood, etc. This is important to ensure an optimal yield of timber for further processing.

Sawmills Unit; The logs are sawn into planks and graded according to quality, with the object of obtaining a quotient number of planks cut vertically to the grain. Our computer-controlled kiln drying process has a capacity of 16,800 cbm per year and provides an essentially improved product quality in comparison to drying in air.

The Moulding Unit: Our factory utilize four automatic high-speed moulders providing a maximum of seven mandrills. The strips are accurately squared on four faces. By using modern machines a tolerance of a hundredth millimeter is achieved which provides the accuracy for a high quality finished products.

The Finger Joint Unit: A finger jointing process which joint together the shorter lengths of timber into longer lengths, which are used for board or constructions production. This gives a high utilisation of timber which has the maximum stability compares to natural timber board. A high frequency glue press heats the glued joint from the inside to the outside ensuring maximum strength and stability. Finally they are cut into lengths, given a final inspection and shipped.
